The Citrix X1 Mouse is a Bluetooth wireless device that allows users to navigate virtual Windows desktops and applications on Apple iOS, Google Android and Windows mobile devices.
This Bluetooth mouse is the first one to be compatible with iOS smartphones and tablets. Citrix worked around iOS incompatibility by having the X1 Mouse communicate with the Citrix Receiver for iOS application. Receiver uses the HDX remote display protocol to connect the mouse with Windows virtual desktops and applications deployed through the Citrix XenDesktop and XenApp products.
Windows is designed for a keyboard and mouse interface, but iOS devices only include touchscreens, which deters users from having a near-native experience when accessing remote desktops on iOS. The Citrix X1 Mouse is designed to improve the user experience, making iPads and iPhones more like desktop computing clients. The Citrix X1 Mouse is also fully compatible with Android 4.0 and above, as well as Windows mobile devices. It supports iPad 3, iPhone 5, iOS 8.3, and all newer Apple devices and OS versions.
The Citrix X1 Mouse includes right- and left-click buttons, a scroll wheel and laser sensor, and it works from a distance of up to 30 feet away. Citrix announced the X1 Mouse in January 2015 and released it at the Citrix Synergy conference in May 2015.
