Date: Jul 26, 2012

BriForum 2012 Chicago kicked off with experts and attendees alike chomping at the bit to discuss desktop virtualization and the consumerization of IT. • Four options for VDI disaster recovery

Tip - Having a DR plan in place is important, especially if you host virtual desktops. But how should you plan for VDI disaster recovery? Consider Hyper-V, Windows To Go, storage replication and offline virtual desktops.
  • Get schooled on how to deploy VDI technology like a pro

Tip - Thought your high school days were over? Not so fast -- there's a lot the enterprise can learn from a virtual high school about how to deploy VDI technology.
  • Tablets and smartphones can be thin clients, too

Tip - The experience of using a mobile device as a thin client has improved and it's no longer out of the question, but some pain points remain, such as connectivity and text entry.

What does the desktop virtualization market hold for 2015?

Feature - DaaS, BYOD and Linux support made the experts' list of the big trends of 2014, and they hope the pain points associated with those technologies will find solutions in the coming year.
  • Four considerations for delivering VDI to mobile workers

Tip - Before you let mobile workers use their tablets and smartphones to access virtual desktops and applications, consider the kinds of sessions you host, whether the UE will be any good and how many IP addresses it will take.
